Sunday in the Park will feature the Passionate for Poetry Festival Oct. 2 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Herman Park.
The finale of the Wayne County Reads celebration, which had been postponed earlier, will take place at this time, regardless of the weather, according to Margaret Boothe Baddour with the Goldsboro Writers Group and the Arts Council of Wayne County.
"We've been saving all the costumes, the games and the musicians for an even better festival this fall," she said."
Activities will include poetry, origami, a Seuss and Goose scavenger hunt and more, presented by the Goldsboro Writers Group.
The park house porch will feature "The Sound of Poetry," a writing workshop about memories. "The Young Woman in the Shoe," which includes children's art and poetry activities, will be held beside the playground.
At the gazebo stage will be Allan Wolf of Asheville, a former member of the Dead Poets band, a full-time poet and performer at North Carolina schools and community events and author of five poetry books.
Members of the Goldsboro Writers Group will roam the park in costume portraying poets and poems as Emily Dickinson, The Mad Hatter and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
There will be performances by African drummer Ayinde Hurrey, blues man Donald Thompson, songwriter Needham Park, storyteller Priscilla Best, Goldsboro School of Ballet dancers and David Weil's What's My Line poetry quiz.
The Hula Hoop Lady will also be at the festival.
There will be art vendors and food and drink vendors.
The Wayne County Public Library will have a Poetry in Art exhibit by local library Teenage Club artists.
