Open house events will be held this week at three non-traditional schools in Wayne County Public Schools.
In addition to Wayne Early/Middle College High School and Wayne School of Engineering, Goldsboro High School has been added to the list this year. The school board approved the change, as part of the state's "Restart Model," allowing more flexibility with the calendar and affording students the opportunity to enroll in afternoon courses at Wayne Community College.
Classes at the three schools are slated to begin Aug. 8.
Open house, an opportunity for parents and students to visit the school and meet teachers, also allows families the chance to tour facilities and campuses, ask questions and learn more about the innovative programs and curriculum opportunities at each school.
The bulk of the open houses will be held this Thursday.
The exception will be WEMCH, which will hold a session for 11th graders on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium on the Wayne Community College campus.
Ninth-graders at the school will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium, while 10th and 12th graders will pick up schedules that day from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Hocutt Building conference room.
Events at GHS will be in the auditorium, with ninth-graders meeting from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and those in grades 10-12 scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
There will be a floating open house at Wayne School of Engineering for all grades, from noon until 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
