Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.'s Epsilon Phi Omega Chapter spent each Saturday the past few months sewing dresses from pillowcases. The dresses are for Little Dresses for Africa, a nonprofit organization based in Michigan. The chapter members made more than 120 dresses.

The sorority has a national goal of 29,108 pillowcase dresses.

The dresses will be shipped to Africa through mission teams and other verified organizations.

"The dresses help young girls in Tanzania, South Africa and Liberia. The dresses symbolize hope and opportunities," said Mary Kay James, president of the local chapter. "Working together to create these dresses reinforced how fortunate we are, and at the same time, how we can touch the lives of others."
