A Goldsboro man was arrested Wednesday and charged in an armed robbery that occurred in December 2015.
Quentin Bryce Barnes, 31, of 1303 N. George St., was charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon for allegedly robbing the Family Dollar at 1403 Wayne Memorial Drive on Dec. 10, 2015.
Maj. Anthony Carmon with the Goldsboro Police Department said Barnes used a knife during the robbery, and that he was arrested Wednesday after officers responded to a disturbance call.
"There was a disturbance, and when officers came he fled from the scene of the disturbance," Carmon said.
Carmon said officers arrested Barnes during a traffic stop that happened "at least 30 minutes" after Barnes allegedly fled the scene of the disturbance.
After officers positively identified Barnes, they arrested him based on the warrants that were out for his arrest. Carmon said.
According to an arrest report, Barnes was also charged with felony probation violation. Carmon said Barnes was also charged with obtaining property by false pretense.
According to a press release from the Goldsboro Police Department, Barnes had a fugitive warrant for his arrest out of Greenville.
Barnes was arrested in the 500 block of Gulley Street and placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $775,000 secured bond. He is being held with no bond for the fugitive from justice charge out of Greenville, and is awaiting extradition on that charge.
Nobody was injured during the Family Dollar robbery.
According to an arrest report filed Thursday afternoon, Barnes has also been charged with felony attempted second degree sex offense, assault on a female and communicating threats.
Carmon said the charges filed against Barnes Thursday stem from the disturbance call officers responded to Wednesday.
Barnes was given an additional $150,000 secured bond on those charges.
