Conservative activist the Rev. Jesse L. Peterson Friday night said the destruction of the family and a lack moral character and not racism are to be blamed for the suffering of black Americans. Peterson, who is known for his often controversial views on civil rights, made his comments during the Camp Liberty program sponsored by the Tea Party group Citizens for Constitutional Liberties.

The destruction of the family and a lack moral character and not racism are to be blamed for the suffering of black Americans, the Rev. Jesse L. Peterson said.

Peterson, a black conservative activist known for his often controversial views on civil rights, made his comments Friday before an audience at the Camp Liberty program sponsored by the Tea Party group Citizens for Constitutional Liberties.

He was the keynote speaker for the event held at Victory Free Will Baptist Church.

The seminar, designed to teach people about the U.S. Constitution and includes classes for people from kindergarten though adulthood, began Thursday and continued through Saturday.

Supporters use the Civil Rights Movement as a means of controlling people and for fanning racial tensions for personal gain, Peterson said.

"Black Americans are being controlled by a wave of anger," he said. "The problem is that the anger is going out of control now because we don't want to come along and say, 'Look it is not about racism. It is about character. It is about family. It is about loving what is right. It is about forgiveness. It is about treating your neighbors the way you would like to be treated.'

"Over the past 60 years or so they have blamed black Americans' problems on white people, and white people are so afraid they won't defend themselves. So most black people are not hearing the truth that is them and not white folks. It is the destruction of the family and not white folks."

Peterson is the president of Brotherhood Organization for a New Destiny (BOND), a religious nonprofit, which states its mission as "rebuilding the family by rebuilding the man."

"How many of you believe that racism exists?" Peterson said. "How many of you still have anger and you just cannot seem to overcome that anger? You want to let it go. You know you should let it go, but it just seems to come back. I want to tell you that I am going to prove to you tonight that racism does not exist, has never existed and is a lie that has been made up. It has been made up by the children of the lie.

"They make this lie up so that they can control the people. They wanted to control black Americans by keeping them down with anger. Most blacks, not all, not all, not all, but most black Americans are suffering not due to racism, but in destruction of the family and the lack of moral character."

Peterson said that 72 percent of black children are born out of wedlock just as he was and his son was. That means the father is not around. Barack Obama also did not have a relationship with his father, Peterson said.

"The worst thing that can happen to a child, boy or girl, never mind the color, is not have his or her father in their lives," he said. "When the farther is not there it leaves an emptiness, a void. You feel unloved, like something is wrong in your life. It doesn't matter how much money you have or where you live, how many friends you have. It doesn't matter. It will not fill that void whenever you do not have that father there in your life."

Many times the children are turned away from their fathers by their mothers who are angry with the father, he said.

In turn, the children become angry with the mother.

"When you become angry at someone you become like them, you become like what you are angry at," Peterson said. "So what is happening is that black boys and girls are being born into families where the fathers are not there to protect them. The kids are angry at their mothers and grandmothers because they didn't have that in them to raise them."

Instead of dealing with that anger, they are being told by "race hustlers" that it is the white man's fault, not theirs, and is racism, Peterson said.

"The reason they are telling them that is because when a person is angry, you can control that person," he said. "So whenever race hustlers like the so-called Civil Rights movement -- Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Barack Obama and the Congressional Black Caucus and most of the black preachers, who hate white America as well -- whenever they want a little more power they tell black people this is a racial situation.

"Black people go into a crash because they believe into a lie, and they will do whatever these people want. Because white Americans are afraid of being called a racist, they fall for it as well. So whatever Jackson and the others want, you give it to them whether it is power, money or put some of their friends into your companies or businesses."

A moral people cannot be controlled, he said. They have to be demoralized to be controlled, Peterson said.

White people even gave black Americans a black president because they wanted to be loved and to let black people know they were not against them, he said.

"It turned out to be the worst one that this country could ever experience," he said. "I said back in 2008 on my radio show, do not vote for Barack Obama. He is worse than Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton Louis Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright Jr. -- all of them put together. I said this man is a liar."

It will get worse before the November election because Obama is an "evil, evil man" who does not care about anybody, including black Americans, he said.

"Black Americans are worse off today under Barack Obama than they were at any point in life," Peterson said. "They have more hatred in their hearts. They are more violent. You have them running around killing police officers. That was not going on prior to Barack Obama."

Peterson said that Obama has been able to divide America more than any other president or person in the history of the country.

Peterson said that was ridiculous because blacks and whites go to school together, work together and in some cases marry one another.

Obama, who also grew up hearing that white people are racist against blacks, wants the division and to keep people angry, fighting each other and bringing fear in order to redistribute power and wealth, he said.

Obama as well as the Socialist Party are using black Americans to turn the country into a socialist society, Peterson said. The president is using these angry black Americans to destroy the country in order to bring chaos to usher in socialism and take over the lives of Americans, he said.

"The unfortunate thing is most white folks are afraid and most black Americans hate white folks from the pulpit to the home," Peterson said.

White people are not the problem, he said.

"But when you are angry, you believe in a lie," he said. "I want to say to white Americans, the worst thing you can have is fear."
