Wayne County Public Schools has reverted to summer hours.
From now through Aug. 19, the school district is operating on a 10-hour day, four-day-workweek schedule. Offices will be closed on Fridays.
All of the schools, departments and the administrative offices on Royall Avenue will be open to the public Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
The flex time schedule began in 2006 to cut operation expenses during the summer months. In addition to being closed on Fridays, July 4 will be observed and the offices will not be open.
Three districts schools, which operate under a separate academic calendar, will also use the four-day workweek schedule. Goldsboro High, Wayne Early/Middle College High and Wayne School of Engineering will run that schedule through July 29.
