The Wayne County Public Library will have two programs celebrating the 100th anniversary of America's National Park Service. They are designed to encourage people to check out the educational and recreational opportunities that are offered by national and state parks.
Celebrating Our National Parks will be held July 14 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dr. David K. Loomis, professor at the Institute for Coastal Science and Police at East Carolina University's department of recreation and leisure studies, will be the speaker. He will share the history of the National Park Service, and tell stories about his adventures as a former park ranger.
Celebrating Our State Parks will be held July 21 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cliffs of the Neuse park ranger Autumn Kahl will talk about the history and role of the park and its importance to the community. She will also bring along a few animals from the park.
Both programs are free. For more information, call Kristina Gabriel at 919-735-1824, ext. 5130.
