A dead body found floating in the Little River Saturday afternoon has been identified by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office as 51-year-old Bryan Keith McGee of 2097 U.S. 258 near Pink Hill in Lenoir County.
McGee was found floating on the north side of the Little River at Claridge Nursery Road and U.S. 70 West just after 4 p.m. Saturday by two local 15-year-old boys who were fishing.
One of the fishing lines being used by the two teenage boys got caught on a log while fishing, and when the two boys went to free up the fishing line they discovered McGee floating in the river approximately three feet from the river bank.
"When the boys went to unhook the line from the log, that's when they came across the body," said Maj. Tom Effler of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Effler said the death is not currently believed to be suspicious.
After McGee was discovered, his body was taken to a local unspecified morgue for further examination.
Law enforcement officers with the Goldsboro Police Department arrived on the scene Saturday before the location of the incident was determined to be the jurisdiction of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
The Rosewood Fire Department, the Sheriff's Office dive team and the Arr-Mac Water Response Team also responded to the scene on Saturday.
