A Goldsboro man is being held without bond in the Wayne County Jail after investigators say he entered a county woman's home early Thursday morning and assaulted her until daybreak.

Jonathan Douglas Seaman, 33, 421 Charlie Braswell Road is charged with felony assault by strangulation, second-degree kidnapping, assault inflicting serious bodily injury, common law robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The victim remains in the hospital with severe injuries, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.

"He is not cooperating with us, so we are going back to talk to her today," Maj. Tom Effler said Friday.

According to a press release, Seamen let himself into the victims home after knocking. He began to assault the victim with items located in her home and with his fists the report said.

The abuse continued for hours.

Once exhausted from the attack and from lack of sleep, Seamen took the victim's car keys and drove off in her 2011 Toyota. During the attack, she had been denied access to a phone, and she was prevented from leaving.

After Seamen was gone, she managed to get to a phone and called her neighbor. The neighbor rushed over and, seeing the severity of her injuries, dialed 911, the report said. The victim was immediately taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital where she was later interviewed by deputies assigned to the domestic violence division.

"They were on-again, off-again boyfriend and girlfriend. I don't think they were together at the time that this happened," Effler said.

Deputies began to search for the stolen vehicle and located Seaman on Charlie Braswell Road.

Further charges against Seaman are pending. It is still not determined whether there was any kind of sexual assault involved, Effler said.

Due to the nature of the attack, the victim's name is not being released. The stolen car has since been recovered.
