A Kinston teen told Goldsboro police he came to buy marijuana, but ended up getting robbed at gunpoint early this morning.

The incident took place in the 1100 block of Maple Street at 1:15 a.m.

Cory Scott Napier, 18, of Kinston, told police he was trying to buy an undisclosed amount of marijuana when two unknown subjects robbed him with a hand gun. Napier gave no description of the two men.

Maj. Anthony Carmon of the Goldsboro Police Department said that although Napier was involved in the commission of a crime at the time he was robbed, he is still the victim of a crime, too.

"It is still a crime. The victim will go to court and tell what happened to him," Carmon said.

But that can only happen after the suspects are identified and charged. In the meantime, Napier, who opened himself up to a potential conspiracy charge by arranging a drug transaction, has not and will not be charged in the foreseeable future.

"There is still conspiracy, but, I'm more concerned that there is somebody out there robbing people," Carmon said.
