Jet noise and traffic congestion are both expected to increase around Seymour Johnson Air force Base, Monday and Tuesday, as a base-wide exercise is scheduled.

A 4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs press release went out late last week detailing the event.

On Feb. 1 and 2, the 4th Fighter Wing will conduct a deployment exercise during which the community can expect increased noise, emergency response vehicle presence and potential traffic congestion on and near the base.

The base will operate under increased Force Protection Conditions throughout the exercise, which might limit or prevent base access, the release said.

The exercises is meant to test the 4th Fighter Wing's combat capabilities. These events are critical to maintaining readiness and ensuring the safety of the community, as well as the airmen and their families.

According to the press release, approximately 1,000 airmen will participate in the exercise. Anyone requiring more information about the two-day event is asked to contact Public Affairs at 919-722-0027.
