The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the alleged armed burglary and kidnapping of a family of four at a residence on Wingspread Drive Tuesday.

The owners and operators of Chen's Kitchen on Highway 111 South were caught off guard when they returned home to 218 Wingspread Drive just before 11:30 p.m., according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.

Police have no leads.

"Right now we are out looking for potential witnesses," Capt. Richard Lewis said.

Qiu Lin Chen, 40, and Li Luo Ming, 42, remained outside the residence watering the garden while the mother and daughter went inside, according to the report.

Two armed men with bandanas over their faces appeared and forced Chen and Ming inside the residence.

Two more masked gunmen appeared and all four family members were made to lie face down on the floor of the living room.

The gunmen proceeded to open every drawer and closet in the home.

One of the victims overheard one intruder say to another that they needed to find "the black bag she was carrying when she left the restaurant," the report said.

The suspects located the bag and left the home headed in an unknown direction.

Several deputies, including a K-9 unit, responded to the scene but were unable to locate the subjects.

The victims could only identify their assailants as black men with bandanas over the lower parts of their faces, according to the report.

Among the items taken by the four gunmen were $1,900 in cash, a jade and gold necklace, several bank and identification cards, a wallet, purse and $30 and $100 in Taiwanese and Chinese currency respectively.

No one was injured.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery kidnapping of the Chen family is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255, or text tips to 919-222-4230. Callers will remain anonymous and a cash reward of up to $1,000 in cash may be paid for information leading to a felony arrest.
