A Goldsboro man is in stable condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital after being struck while he was on his bicycle Tuesday.

Eugene McClarin, 59, of Creech Street, suffered multiple injuries when his bicycle was hit at the intersection of East Elm Street and South Oleander Avenue at about 12:19 p.m.

Goldsboro police said McClarin was knocked to the ground and run over by a 2007 Chrysler driven by Blonnie May Oates Broadhurst, 69, 804 Franklin St.

According to the police report, Ms. Broadhurst was traveling south on Oleander Avenue and stopped at the sign at the Elm Street intersection. She then advanced through the intersection without seeing McClarin.

McClarin was dragged under the vehicle.

Wayne County EMS, the Goldsboro Fire Department and Goldsboro police responded. Paramedics worked on McClarin at the scene and en route to Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Police cited Mrs. Broadhurst with failure to see before starting.
