The Goldsboro city pool season will kick off May 24 for Memorial Day weekend.
The pools will then go on a weekend schedule opening Fridays through Sundays until Friday, June 13, when the school year ends.
This is a change from last year due to the school year being extended on account of missed school days from bad winter weather, Goldsboro Parks and Recreation Superintendent Felicia Brown said.
* Mina Weil Pool, located at 235 House St. in Mina Weil Park will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
On Sunday, the pool will be open from 1 to 6 p.m.
The pool is closed on Mondays.
* Peacock Pool at 1503 Herring St. in Peacock Park will hold the same hours as Mina Weil Pool but will be closed on Tuesdays.
The weekend times listed for each pool will also be the schedule for the weekend days prior to the June 13 full schedule.
Daily pool passes are available at a cost of $3 per child, per day and $5 per adult, per day.
Season pool passes are also available for purchase at Herman Park Center.
A season pool pass for a child under 18 is $25 and an adult pass costs $35.
Children who receive a free lunch at school are eligible for a free season pool pass.
Children who receive lunch at a reduced rate are eligible to purchase a season pool pass for only $12.50.
To receive the free or reduced rate pass, the parent must provide a copy of the letter from the school system stating that the child is eligible to receive free or reduced rate lunches at school.
Beginner swim lessons will be offered again this summer at cost of $20 for eight lessons.
The first round of lessons begins the week of June 16, with the second session beginning the week of July 14.
Lessons are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings at Mina Weil Pool from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for children ages 3-5 and 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. for children ages 6 and up; then from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for children ages 3-5 again and 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children ages 6 and up.
Peacock Pool will host lessons on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 5:30 p.m. for children ages 3-5 and from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. for children ages 6 and up.
Also on the bill again this year is the Doggie Swim Day at the end of the city's pool season.
People will be able to bring their canine friends for a day of swimming in the city pools with them.
The tentative date for this event is Saturday, Sept. 13.
