A Goldsboro man has been charged with hit and run and leaving the scene of an accident following an early morning wreck in Herman Park Monday. Richard Wilson, 36, of 417 Whitfield Drive, allegedly drove his Toyota Camry over a concrete bedded pole and crashed into the fence surrounding the Lady of the Park fountain around 1:30 Monday. Wilson attempted to report the vehicle stolen around 3:30 a.m. but the officer on duty found the story suspicious and took no report, Sgt. J.A. Stine said. "The car was located by Parks and Recreation workers around 7:30 a.m. and we caught up with Mr. Wilson around 10 a.m.," Stine said. Wilson was also charged with driving while license revoked. He was placed under a $2,500 unsecured bond. Damage to the fountain and car totaled $10,000.
