Get ready for another day of fish stew and field trials.

The Albertson Ruritan Club will be hosting the 29th Annual George Washington Day Fox Hunt, one of the small community's top fundraisers, on Saturday, Feb. 22, starting with an early breakfast of sausage, eggs and grits. The Albertson community building is located at the intersection of state Route 903 and N.C. 111 South.

Last year's event raised $15,000 for the community. That amount is split three ways between the Albertson Volunteer Fire Department, the Albertson Parks and Recreation Department and the Ruritan Club.

The doors for the event open at 5 a.m. until 8 a.m. for a $5 breakfast. A lunch of barbecue pork, chicken and fish stew, which costs $7 a plate, starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m.

Dog trials, which have replaced the actual fox hunt years ago, end at 3 p.m. when trophies are presented to the top finishers. Individuals can pre-register dogs by calling 252-568-4703, or they can register the day of the event at 5 a.m. Cost is $20 per dog.

The Ruritan Club will also be holding a raffle during the event. First place for the raffle will win a Browning Silver shotgun, or $800. Second place will win $200, and third place will win $100. Event attendees can also buy 50/50 raffle tickets for the event. If anyone wishes to buy a large amount of tickets but aren't able to attend the event, Ruritan members are willing to drive to pick them up.

T-shirts and sweatshirts will also be available during the event. Cost is $15 per T-shirt and $20 per sweatshirt.

For more information on the event, call Albertson Ruritan Club President Thomas Deaver at 252-560-9685.
