Here we snow again

A state Department of Transportation truck spreads brine along U.S. 117 South on Monday. Forecasters were calling for a wintry mix of snow and ice for most of North Carolina today through Thursday, and highway crews were out in force to prepare for the possible bad weather and slippery roadways.

Winter weather is heading into North Carolina again.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until midnight tonight and a winter storm warning from 9 a.m. Wednesday until 6 p.m. Thursday.
Snowfall is expected to range from about 1 to 3 inches across Wayne County on Wednesday, with 8 inches or more falling in the mountains and around 3 inches on the coast.
A mixture of snow and ice is possible in the Raleigh area.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation began applying brine on major highways across the state Monday and can apply another coating if necessary.
The Goldsboro Public Works Department ordered 50 tons of salt following the winter weather at the end of January to replenish its reserves after the week of clearing snow and ice from the roads.
Because of the threat of snow and ice, Wayne County Public Schools canceled classes for students today. It will be an optional teacher workday for staff.
St. Mary School closed at noon today, with no after-school care available. All school-sponsored afternoon and evening activities are also canceled.
Decisions about Wednesday will be made later this evening.
As of press time, no decision had been made about Wayne County public offices or Wayne Community College.
City of Goldsboro officials said they are holding off on making any changes to their operating schedule until the forecasted weather is closer.
Also, the African-American Music Trail events scheduled for Wednesday at the University of Mount Olive, the lecture and free concert by Bill Myers and the Monitors, have been canceled.
Early today, light snow was reported in Boone and Monroe, as well as Cherry Point, Hatteras and New Bern.
