Three former employees in the Transportation Department of the Wayne County Public Schools are currently under investigation for "larceny of fuel," officials have confirmed.
According to Wayne County Sheriff's Office, an active investigation is under way but no charges have been filed against Sanford Ham Jr. and Brandon Briggs, who were route mechanics for the schools, and Michael Chase, a route supervisor.
Ken Derksen, public information officer for the school district, said the accusations are considered a personnel matter and he is limited in what he can say but confirmed that the men were "terminated by the district" Sept. 23. He said Chase had been hired in March 2007. Ham had worked with the district since March 2002 and Briggs was hired in January 2011.
