The Wayne Uplift Domestic Violence Program will host its second annual candlelight vigil, "Lights for Change," Thursday to remember victims and honor survivors of domestic violence.
The vigil will be held at Herman Park at the gazebo from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Candles will be provided for all who come.
"We would just like to invite the Wayne County community to help us recognize the victims of domestic violence and to give support to the survivors of domestic violence," said Executive Director Linda Holden-Cox.
The vigil is the agency's main event as part of its recognition of October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Wayne Uplift staff has been asked to hold speaking engagements for agencies across the county this month, but fights for domestic violence awareness all year through initiatives such as the Safe Dating program, which is operated throughout the school system, and food and clothing drives for victims.
