DUDLEY -- Tri-County Electric Membership Corp. is offering residents of Wayne and surrounding counties the opportunity to "Sport A Shirt and Share A Night" with families of the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina.

The "Sport A Shirt, Share A Night" campaign is a statewide fundraiser for all five North Carolina Ronald McDonald Houses that encourages groups, businesses and individuals to support families, simply by wearing a T-shirt.

The T-shirts cost $10 each, which is equal to the nightly donation asked of families to stay in each house.

Participants are asked to "sport" their shirts on April 27, in honor of the families staying in the Ronald McDonald House.

This year, the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville plans to sell 5,000 shirts, potentially raising $50,000 for the charity. All proceeds raised from shirt sales will remain in eastern North Carolina, helping the House to serve thousands of families.

Tri-County Electric has been a partner of the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina since 1998, when general manager, Mike Davis, and his wife stayed several nights after the birth of their twins.

Members and employees of Tri-County Electric have contributed to several major Ronald McDonald House projects, including "Sport A Shirt, Share A Night in the Spring," "Light A Luminary" in the fall and wish list drives throughout the year.

The Ronald McDonald House, located on Moye Boulevard, across from Vidant Medical Center (formerly Pitt County Memorial Hospital) in Greenville, provides a temporary home away from home for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment in area medical facilities.

Wayne County families make up the most time spent in the House, staying nearly 2,000 nights in the past two years.

To purchase a shirt and participate in "Sport A Shirt, Share A Night," visit the Tri-County Electric office in Dudley at 4255 Alt U.S. 117 South, or contact the Ronald McDonald House at 252-847-5435.
