Copper ripped from home

Kevin Korth reported to Goldsboro police the larceny of copper downspouts from his home in the 300 block of South Pineview Avenue that occurred between March 27 and April 2. The two downspouts, which were taken on two separate occasions in the seven-day period, had a total listed value of $416.

Church a/c units targeted

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigation the following thefts from churches in Mount Olive.

*Zebulon Harrell, of Thunder Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church, located at 1519 Thunder Swamp Road in Mount Olive, reported damage to two Gas Pac heating and a/c units that took place between Sunday and Monday. Each unit had copper coils and copper tubing linked to propane tanks removed. Each a/c unit is valued at $8,500 and are reported to be a complete loss. The listed value of the stolen copper is $100.

*Wade Durham reported a break-in at Shady Grove Ministries Inc., located at 911 Thunder Swamp Road in Mount Olive that occurred between Sunday and Monday. Entry was made into the church by kicking in a side door. While nothing was reported stolen from inside the church, an a/c unit behind the church was dismantled and the copper and cooling condenser were removed. The gold electrical contacts from a junction box that provided electricity to the a/c were also stolen. The stolen property was listed at $6,000.
