Harassing phone calls
Janis Marie Faison, 200 block Seymour Drive, reported that a "Tim" called her several times on Friday asking her for $600. She said "Tim" stated she owed him money and he would be at her house later that day to get the money one way or another.
Conned money
Donnell Ray Exum, 1600 block Tommy's Road, reported on Friday he was conned into paying $2,998 in taxes for several prizes he had won. He said he sent the money via Western Union on three different occasions to a subject in Jamaica.
B&E's and larcenies
*Ebony Richae Relaford, 1000 block Harris Street, reported two TVs, a computer and a cell phone stolen from her property on Friday after returning home from work. The total value of the items is $1,569.
*Isaza Alba, 100 block Stewart Circle in Warsaw, reported $130 missing from her wallet. A movie theater employee turned in the wallet Friday after finding it in a cup holder.
City fire report
The Goldsboro Fire Department responded to 42 calls in the past week. Between March 2 and March 8, the department made 12 assists to Wayne County Emergency Medical Services, 12 false alarm calls and five calls to vehicle accidents.
In the seven-day period, firefighters responded to two building fires.
On March 2, Bravo shift firefighters from Station 3, located at 100 E. Patetown Road, responded to a house fire about 11:15 p.m. The home was at 830 N. John St.
Their reported response time was 4 minutes and 51 seconds.
The fire was called in by Goldsboro police who was patrolling the area saw fire coming out of the window.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and discovered a back door to the vacant home open and that no power was running
The fire originated in a bedroom, but the cause of the fire is reported as undetermined.
The estimated damage to the building is reported at $16,130.
Firefighters from Alpha shift at Station 2, located at 1900 Royall Ave., responded to a vehicle fire March 6 in a parking lot located at 1805 Wayne Memorial Drive around 1:20 p.m.
Their response time was reported at 2 minutes and 9 seconds.
The owner of the vehicle had left the car running as she entered a store then discovered the vehicle had caught fire.
Firefighters put out the fire, but did not determine a cause.
Firefighters from Bravo shift at Station 1, located at 204 S. Center St., responded to a building fire at 117 Lionel St., around 9:30 p.m. March 2.
Their reported response time was 5 minutes 48 seconds.
The fully involved fire was located in a garage on the property that was threatening the home. The home suffered heat, fire and smoke damage to one side of the structure.
The homeowner noticed a man walking from the back of the house to the front then found a small fire burning in the garage and called 911.
People at the home attempted to put the fire using buckets of water before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters report the possible point of origin to be a toilet bowl containing ignitable materials that was covered by a mattress.
