Seymour Johnson AFB airmen set for return

Husbands and wives will come together for long embraces.
Children will jump up and down.
Tears will fall.
At long last, they are coming home.
Hundreds of 4th Fighter Wing airmen are scheduled to return to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base within the next few weeks -- marking the end of a six-month stint at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.
And while the day and time of their arrival have yet to be released, one thing is certain: They will come back to a hero's welcome.
During their tour, the airmen have been responsible for providing air power, courtesy of 4th F-15E Strike Eagles, to Coalition forces fighting on the ground.
And one aircrew -- and the maintainers that sent them skyward -- made history.
Bagram Airfield officials confirmed earlier this year that F-15E No. 89-0487 reached 10,000 flying hours during a mission over Afghanistan -- a first for the platform that was commissioned in the late 1980s.
