Wayne County Reads to include several activities this week

Wayne County Reads continues its discussion of the book "The Pleasure Was Mine" this week with several events planned.
The book, by Asheville author Tommy Hays, describes a husband's coping with his wife's growing dementia.
On Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 10:30 a.m., there will be a children's story time and craft session to make cards for veterans at the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Library. On Wednesday, a film on the subject will be shown a the Wayne County library at 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday at noon and again at 6 p.m., book discussions will be led by Kay Cooke of the Wayne County Library. Book discussions also will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the base library.
Also at the base library, a "scanning party" to preserve old photographs will be held Saturday, Feb. 11.
This past weekend featured a one-man play, "The Best is Yet To Be," performed by Quinn Hawksworth at Wayne Community College.
Next week will feature a panel discussion on Tuesday, Feb. 21, "Alzheimer's/Dementia: Joy and Challenges of Care Giving," with family caregivers share their stories. It will be held at 7 p.m. at the Wayne County Public Library.
