Boy found with handgun
A 13-year-old boy was taken into custody by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for allegedly carrying a concealed chrome .45 ACP handgun.
Deputies received a call about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday that a boy was in the area of 104 Radford Court with a handgun that he had fired the weapon in the neighborhood.
When the deputy reached the area, concerned citizens pointed out two juveniles who were located in a wooded area behind 126 Pate Circle. The firearm was found on the waistband of the 13-year-old. During the incident 15 unspent rounds were seized with the firearm.
B&Es and larcenies
*Jeovanie Hernandez reported a break-in at his home in the 200 block of Camp Trailee Boulevard in Dudley. Entry was made into the home through the back door between Wednesday and Thursday. The items stolen during the break-in include a 50 inch TV, two laptops and jewelry. The total value of the stolen property is more than $3,000.
*Shelia Mitchell reported the theft of her 2002 Dodge Stratus, valued at $2,000, from the parking lot of R.A. Jeffreys at 203 block of U.S. 70 West between Wednesday and Thursday. She left the car in the parking lot after it had broken down, and when she returned it was no longer there.
