Geniro Jamis

A 48-year-old Goldsboro man remains missing after he was kidnapped Sunday night.

Geniro Jamis and his son, Israil Aguirre, 24, were forced out of their vehicle by masked gunmen while they were near their home on D & W Circle in eastern Wayne County.

Other family members also were in the vehicle, including women and children, when the men were kidnapped, Wayne County Sheriff's Office Maj. Tom Effler said.

The family was driving on Leonard Drive about 10:30 p.m. when they were pulled over by a vehicle carrying seven suspects. Effler said the men brandished rifles and pistols.

Aquirre was released Monday. Since he was released, he has helped deputies clarify details provided early in the investigation.

It was initially reported the vehicle the men were pulled over by used flashing red, blue and yellow lights to impersonate law enforcement officials.

Deputies recently reported the suspects actually used a flashing white light.

According to early reports, the men were forced into a white SUV, possibly a Ford Expedition. The suspects' vehicle is now described as a 1999 Ford extended cab pick-up truck with a black camper shell.

The suspects were first identified as one white male and five Hispanic men. Deputies now say the suspects are three black men and four Hispanic men.

Effler said Jamis' family has previously resided in surrounding counties and that other law enforcement agencies are working with Wayne County investigators in this case.

Anyone with information that may pertain to this case is asked to contact the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 731-1481 or Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.
