Holiday closings announced for Monday

Local, state and federal offices, banks and the post office will be closed Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Wayne County Public Schools and Wayne Community College will be closed, too.
All Wayne County government offices including the landfill and convenience sites will be closed as well as town halls in Goldsboro, Mount Olive and Fremont.
The Goldsboro-Wayne County annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Celebration will be held Monday at the Goldsboro-Raleigh Assembly building on Hooks River Road.
A breakfast will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Dr. Joel Wallach will be the speaker for the 9 a.m. program.
Pikeville and Walnut Creek town halls will be open.
Goldsboro sanitation services for that day will be serviced on Wednesday. In Fremont, Monday's garbage pickup will be done on Tuesday.
The GATEWAY bus system will operate on a holiday schedule. The bus service will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the van service will operate on its normal schedule.
