Students and teachers across Wayne County return to the classroom this week after an extended holiday break. Four county schools will also hold Saturday classes as a make-up day.
Wayne County Public Schools will resume classes on Tuesday, as will St. Mary Catholic School.
Wayne Country Day School, Faith Christian Academy and Wayne Christian School will resume on Wednesday, while Pathway Christian Academy started back today.
The exceptions for the county schools are Wayne School of Engineering and Wayne Early/Middle College High School, which resume Thursday.
Administrative offices for the county schools are also closed until Tuesday.
For students at four county schools, however, this will not be a short week as the district has scheduled Saturday as a make-up day for Wayne School of Engineering, Goldsboro High, Wayne Academy and Northeast Elementary. They will follow an early dismissal schedule for students and staff. The day is being made up because the schools were closed Aug. 30 due to power outages from Hurricane Irene.
