Patrol vehicle crashes
While responding to an emergency call, a Wayne County Sheriff's Office patrol car was involved in a single vehicle crash. The crash occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when another vehicle pulled out in front of deputy Garrison Nance at the U.S. 117 and Arrington Bridge Road intersection and he had to take evasive action to avoid a collision, according to Sheriff's Office release. Nance's car then ran into a wooded area and he was pinned in the vehicle. According to the Sheriff's Office press release, the vehicle that pulled out in front of the patrol car was not immediately located. The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating and further information was not available by press time. The patrol car was taken to the Sheriff's Annex. Nance was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
Car on road struck by bullet
Kristy Jackson arrived at the Goldsboro police department Friday night to report that a bullet was fired into the vehicle she was driving while in the 400 block of East Elm Street around 9:30 p.m. She told police that as she approached Isler Street intersection, she heard three gunshots and at same time one of her back windows shattered.
B&Es and larcenies
*Dudley Food Mart, at 104 Fox Drive, was broken into between Sunday and Monday. The suspect(s) gained entry by prying off a sheet of plywood that was covering a hole in the wall due to reconstruction. The suspect removed $231 of Black and Mild cigars. The store's alarm system was activated during the theft.
*Betty Meadows reported the break-in that occurred between Dec. 11 and Dec. 16 at her home in the 100 block of Robin Lake Drive in Dudley. The suspect entered the home after breaking through a rear door. The stolen items included jewelry, underwear and other personal items. The total value of the stolen goods was more than $800.
*Jose Rosa-Serrano reported the theft of the $1,500 a/c unit from the rear of his home in the 100 block of Redman Court in LaGrange. The unit was stolen between Thursday and Friday.
*Johnathan Williams reported the theft of a trailer loaded with commercial lawn maintenance equipment from his home in the 200 block of North Woodridge Drive in Pikeville. The value of the stolen property was reported at more than $14,000, which included an aluminum Triton utility trailer, a 150-gallon Skid Turf sprayer, a PermaGreen Lesco Fertilizer spreader and a Bluebird lawn dethatcher.
*Lillie Brown reported a break-in at her home in the 200 block of Wisteria Road that occurred Sunday. Two TVs, valued at more than $600, were stolen while Ms. Brown was at church and her granddaughter was in the home sleeping, according to the report. There were no signs of forced entry into the home.
