Another false threat at Cherry work site; SJAFB EOD responds

The 4th Fighter Wing Explosive Ordnance Disposal responded to a bomb threat at the new Cherry Hospital construction site this morning. The Goldsboro Police Department received an anonymous call shortly after 7 a.m. of a bomb on the site.
The entire construction site at Cherry Hospital was cleared of all workers this morning after someone called in a bomb threat to local authorities.
Carlos Torres, site manager of the construction project, said he ordered the evacuation just after 7 a.m., when his company was contacted by the Goldsboro Police Department.
"Safety is the No. 1 concern," Torres said.
Torres is not unfamiliar with dealing with bomb threats at the site west of Goldsboro. On Nov. 22, a bomb hoax required similar action.
"It is frustrating. There is nothing we can do," Torres said this morning.
Torres said the scare just days before Thanksgiving resulted in nearly a whole day's loss of productivity.
Emergency vehicles from Goldsboro Fire Department and Wayne County Emergency Medical Services were poised across West Ash Street this morning, prepared to respond if needed.
Officials with the Members of the 4th Fighter Wing Explosive Ordnance Disposal flight from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base responded to this morning's threat.
Today's bomb scare is the 10th time since January that the base's EOD team has been mobilized by local law enforcement.
