A story published on the front page of Monday's News-Argus incorrectly listed the reason why Wayne County commissioners would be asked to make a $1.9 million amendment to the county budget.

The amendment, which was approved at the board's Tuesday meeting, was an accounting procedure that will allow the county to draw down $953,423 in 911 fee revenues to be used for debt service on the county's new communications system. It will pay for backroom equipment that already has been ordered for the system.

According to County Manager Lee Smith the amendment has a net zero effect on the budget. The county's 50 percent match already has been budgeted.
