Carina Ventura, a second-grader at Eastern Wayne Elementary, cuts out her sunflower vase for her version of Vincent Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" during her art class with teacher Pam Taylor. The painting was the inspiration for the lesson, which taught painting skills, patterns and art history. Van Gogh is in the news with the release of Gregory White Smith and Steven Naifeh's new book claiming the artist's death was not a suicide but an accidental shooting.
