AAR to add 100 new jobs

Defense contractor AAR Corp. CEO David Storch announced today the company will add 100 employees to its Goldsboro work force of 350.
The Goldsboro site designs and manufactures containers and shelters used for military and humanitarian operations.
The announcement was made during a Thursday morning roundtable during which Storch unveiled the company's comprehensive study on the skills gap in America's workforce and how the challenge can be addressed through innovative private and public partnerships.
The roundtable included Storch, U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield and Goldsboro Mayor Al King, who discussed the current challenges company's face when hiring additional employees related to the nationwide job skills gap.
The company is looking to fill nearly 600 jobs open companywide.
The talk included how the parts and service supplier for military and commercial aircraft has worked with North Carolina community colleges to train workers.
The group will then tour the mobility and cargo systems manufacturing facility, capping the visit with a mini Town Hall meeting with employees.
The Illinois company was in the news earlier this year after buying the aviation affiliate of the security company formerly known as Blackwater and then shutting down its North Carolina operation.
