Filing for municipal and sanitary district offices began July 1 at noon and will continue through July 15 at the Wayne County Board of Elections office on 209 S. William St.

Eureka, Pikeville, Seven Springs and Walnut Creek have three board seats each up for election. Seven Springs voters also will elect a mayor. The filing fee is $5.

The filing fee is also $5 for the following:

* Fork Township Sanitary District Board, two seats

* Northwestern Wayne Sanitary District Board, five seats

* Southern Wayne Sanitary District Board, three seats

* Southwestern Wayne Sanitary District Board, five seats

As of press time this morning, three people had filed.

Robert Allan Cash filed July 1 for the office of mayor of Seven Springs.

David Francis Sloan filed Tuesday for the Walnut Creek Village Council and Scott Ingram filed the same day for the Southern Wayne Sanitary District Board of Directors.

Municipal elections in Goldsboro, Mount Olive and Fremont, whose boards are elected by districts, will be delayed because of redistricting.

Filing in those municipalities will begin at noon on Feb. 13, 2012, and end at noon on Feb. 29. The Mount Olive and Fremont elections would be held May 8. Goldsboro's primary, if there are more than two candidates per seat, also would be May 8 and the election June 26.

One-stop voting for the Nov. 8 election will begin Oct. 20 at the Wayne County Board of Elections office.

The hours will be as follows: Oct. 20 and 21, Oct. 24 to 28, Oct. 31 to Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Voter registration for the Nov. 8 election will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14. Polls will be open Nov. 8 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
