Kitchen knife used in robbery attempt

The Donel-Express Mart, 518 E. Elm St., was the scene of an attempted robbery July 3 at 10 p.m., according to a police report.

A store clerk reported a suspect entered the store wielding a large kitchen knife, approached the counter and demanded money. The clerk took out a large stick from under the counter for defense and the person fled from the store. Nothing was reported stolen.

Copper theft

Goldsboro police reported $1,500 of stolen copper from an unoccupied home in the 1700 block of Humphrey Street between June 31 and July 4. According to a police report, the homeowner noticed the crawl space beneath the home had been opened and copper pipes under the home had been removed.

Larceny at child care center

A heat pump, valued at $5,000, was stolen from Visions Child Care Center, 1036 Old Smithfield Road, between July 1 and July 3. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported that there was nothing on the scene to process and there were no known suspects when the report was filed.

ATV stolen

An all-terrain vehicle was reported stolen from the yard of home in the 600 block of Planters Ridge Drive in Pikeville between July 2 and July 3. The value of the ATV Polaris 4x4 was listed at $4,199.
