Man shot, wounded

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office responded to an alleged shooting Wednesday around 9:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Pinehill Road in Dudley.

Marlow Eugene Holmes, 36, of East Holly Street, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for, what deputies reported as, injuries that appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

Holmes was in critical condition at 9:15 a.m. this morning.

How Holmes received the injuries remains undetermined and the investigation is continuing.

Theft at shopping center

The five of the nine businesses that make up Rosewood Junction Shopping Center, at 500 N.C. 581 South, were targeted by thieves between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. According to report with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, four 2-ton air-conditioning units were stolen and a fifth unit was damaged. The suspects tore down a six-feet section of chain-link fence to remove the products.

The value of all damages and stolen goods was listed at $6,500.
