Ten girls to compete for title of Miss Eastern Wayne High

Ten contestants will vie for the title of "Miss Eastern Wayne High School 2011" on Friday at 7 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium at Wayne Community College.
Theme for the 17th annual scholarship pageant is "Ignite Your Life."
Sponsored by the school's Family, Career and Community Leaders of America club, over $6,000 in scholarship money will be awarded to the top three winners.
Special guests will include Lauren Richards, Miss Eastern Wayne 2010, and Stacie Dawson, Wayne County Fair Queen. Mistress of ceremonies will be Hailey Best.
Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from contestants or the pageant director, Jessica Gray, by calling the school at 751-7120.
Participants and their talents include:
* Samantha Baker will perform a dance routine to "Seasons of Love" from the Broadway musical "Rent". The daughter of Jeff and Debbie Baker, she plans to attend college to study ballet.
* Bria Bradford will sing "At Last" as made popular by Etta James. The daughter of Byron and Violet Bradford, she plans to study nursing at N.C. A& T State University.
* Katherine Gambella will dance to "Cooler Than Me" by Mike Posner. The daughter of Nick and Edna Gambella, she plans to attend Meredith College to study psychology.
* Kaitlyn Henry will sing "American Honey" made popular by Lady Antebellum. Her parents are Eric and Jeanie Henry. Future plans include obtaining a master's degree in nursing from either East Carolina University or the University of North Carolina.
* Connor Langston will dance to "Express Yourself" by Madonna. The daughter of Carla Massengill and Bryant Langston, she is interested in studying biology and dentistry at UNC-Wilmington.
* Jami Lavin will perform a jazz dance routine to "Black and Gold" by Sam Sparro. Jami, the daughter of John and Teri Lavin, plans to attend Appalachian State University to major in art education.
*Meghan Pulley will sing "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" made popular by K.T. Tunstall. The daughter of Michael and Katrina Pulley, future plans include studying French or psychology at N.C. State University.
* Morgan Smith will dance to "My Strongest Suit" from the Broadway musical "Aida". Her parents are Kim Smith and Steve Smith. She plans to attend East Carolina University to study nursing.
* Rachel Wegman will play the piano and sing "What a Wonderful World," made popular by Louis Armstrong. The daughter of Michael and Carolyn Wegman, she plans to pursue a degree in secondary math education from ECU or N.C. State.
* Brittany Wilson will dance to "Halo" by Beyonce. She is the daughter of Charles and Vilma Wilson and plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to study athletic training.
