Youth grants earned by 2 groups

RALEIGH -- The Goldsboro Mayor's Youth Council and the Unity Organization in Mount Olive have received mini-grants from the North Carolina Youth Advisory Council of the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office.
The Goldsboro group received $600 for its "Valentine at Wayne" project for children in the hospital. The Mount Olive group received $335 to help sponsor a Black History Month event.
The state organization awarded a total of $6,292 to 14 organizations across the state to support youth programs.Projects that have received funding since the program started in 1977 include after-school tutorial programs, purchases of recreational equipment and orchestral music, an alcohol-free graduation celebration and publication of a newsletter.
