Teen, 17, sought in shooting found in Mount Olive attic

MOUNT OLIVE -- The 17-year-old sought in last month's shooting of another 17-year-old was found Monday hiding in the attic of an Oliver Street home.
Ramil Marque Council was arrested without incident and charged in connection with the Aug. 28 shooting and robbery. He was jailed under a $750,000 bond.
Council faces two counts of armed robbery with a weapon, two counts of assault inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and one count of firing into an occupied vehicle.
The weapon has yet to be recovered.
Council allegedly shot Christopher Wayne Powell of N.C. 55 East, in the abdomen during the robbery. Powell was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police said Council had been on the move since the shooting and that officers had nearly closed in on him Sunday night, but that he moved again before they arrived.
Chief of Police Ralph Schroeder said Officer Hunter Martin received a call through Crime Stoppers that Council was hiding in the attic at a house on the far east end of Oliver Street near the Duplin County line.
The Duplin County Sheriff's Office was contacted because of the house's proximity to the county line. Duplin sheriff's officials told police to proceed.
It was then that Council was discovered in the attic.
Mary Foy, 18, of N.C. 55 East, and Angela Wiggins, 29, of Davis Street were also in the car when the shooting took place. Council and Powell were riding together in the back seat.
The women told police that after shopping at the D and H Mart on South Center Street, a male got into the back seat of the car with Powell to ride with them. Ms. Foy said they drove for a short distance on Pollock Street, between Center and Church streets, when she heard a "pop" and Powell said he had been shot.
Council then allegedly robbed all three victims at gunpoint, jumped out of the car and fled on foot toward the D and H Mart.
Police responded around 8:54 p.m. to a call that a man had been shot. When officers arrived at the rescue building on Northwest Center Street, they found Powell sitting in the back seat of the vehicle.
Powell was treated by EMS and then transported to the hospital.
