Norwayne alumni to hold reunion this weekend

Norwayne Alumni & Friends will meet this weekend for its 38th high school reunion.
This year's theme will be "Ordering Our Steps." Activities will begin with a social at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Norwayne Alumni & Friends Community Center at 106 E. Branch St. in Fremont.
On Saturday, activities will include a parade, banquet and dance. The annual parade in Fremont will start at 10 a.m. at the M.L. King Park on Ballance Road, proceed down Main Street and end at the park.
The banquet at 6 p.m. and dance at 9 p.m. will be held at the H.V. Brown Hall at the Dillard Alumni Cultural Center at 801 Poplar St. in Goldsboro.
The banquet speaker will be Michael Artis, director of purchasing and office services for The Urban Institute in Washington, D.C. He is the son of Mary Verneace Becton and Sylvester Artis.
The Sunday morning worship service at 11 a.m. will be held at the Norwayne Alumni & Friends Community Center. Minister Evon Lassister of Pleasant Union Church of Christ in Goldsboro will be the guest speaker.
The weekend's activities will culminate with a gospel fest Sunday at 6 p.m. at St. James Disciples Church of Christ at 514 Memorial Church Road in Fremont.
Proceeds from the weekend activities will benefit the scholarship fund and Community Center building fund. Tickets are still available and may be purchased at the door for all activities.
