Central/Eastern Wayne alumni announce homecoming festivities

Central/Eastern Wayne Alumni & Friends will observe its 38th annual homecoming May 28-30.
Central High classes of 1940, 1950 and 1960, along with Eastern Wayne classes of 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010 will be honored.
A banquet will be held on Friday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The guest speaker will be Brenda Rowe of Montreal, Canada, formerly of the Parkstown community. She is the founder and president of BR Consultants and an administrator and professor at John Abbott College in Montreal. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased by May 22.
A Dutch breakfast will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Madison's restaurant. The annual parade will be held at noon in the Central Heights community, with the lineup starting at 11 a.m. at Eastern Wayne Middle School. Entry forms are available.
The annual family picnic will be held at Eastern Wayne Middle School at 1 p.m. Dinner will be served from 2-3:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and there will be games and activities for all ages. A hospitality hour will be held at 9 p.m. at the Frink Alumni Center in LaGrange. Tickets are $15.
On Sunday, the alumni chapter's award and gospel program will be held at Woods Chapel Free Will Baptist Church at 5 p.m. Billie R. Whitfield of Lanham, Md., will pay tribute to scholarship recipients and retirees.
Donor list prices range from $25 to $100. The deadline for names to appear in the souvenir book is Monday, May 17.
