A missing Pitt County Sheriff's Office drug-sniffing dog has been found after a week on the lam in Wayne County.
Felix, a 3-year-old black Labrador retriever, escaped from the home of his handler's parents on Jan. 1.
The deputy's parents, who live in Mar Mac, were looking after the dog while the officer was on vacation. A family member reported that Felix jumped out of a fenced-in yard while no one was home.
The retriever, valued at $5,000 due to his high level of training, was located Thursday by his K9 officer, a representative with the Sheriff's Office said.
