Thursday's deadly shooting spree at Fort Hood, Texas, has affected security measures at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs officer Tech. Sgt. Tammie Moore said the installation is under "a heightened state of awareness as a result of the incident" and that base officials are taking "appropriate measures to protect our people and resources."
Those measures include conducting 100 percent ID checks at the installation gates and having members of the 4th Security Forces Squadron patrol highly populated areas around the base.
"The safety and security of our airmen and families is first and foremost in our mind," Moore said.
