Swine flu reported at Seymour Johnson AFB

A 4th Fighter Wing airman is currently isolated at home and listed in good condition after becoming the first confirmed case of H1N1 Flu in Wayne County.
Test results from the USAFSAM Epidemiology Lab at Brooks City Base, Texas, reached Seymour Johnson Air Force Base late Wednesday afternoon.
4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs officials said the active-duty airman was treated for flu-like symptoms at the Thomas F. Koritz Clinic on base and released.
But base health officials said they are confident that with the proper education on the ailment, the hundreds of airmen who report to the
installation daily will be safe from contracting it.
"We are taking the necessary precautions to educate and safeguard military and civilian personnel, as well as family members," said Col. Stephen Higgins, 4th Medical Group commander. "This case was diagnosed early and, as a result, helps in preventing the spread of the disease."
