Gospel sing to benefit police officer with leukemia

With more than $17,000 raised by a fish fry for a Goldsboro police officer with leukemia, his friends and police department superiors were encouraged.
But with treatments that will surely rack up hundreds of thousands in medical bills, Officer James Serlick is still a long way from financial solvency.
To that end, his father, Chris Serlick, a gospel singer, is hosting a gospel sing benefit for his son on Friday night.
The gospel sing, which will feature Serlick's group "Adoration," will also host two other groups, "Anchormen," and "Prayz."
The event is being held at Pikeville Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church in Pikeville at336 Nahunta Road, at 7:30 p.m.
The groups will perform gospel favorites in the hopes of gathering a substantial "love offering," donations which will all go towards the officer's medical bills.
The gospel sing will also feature a chance for someone to win a five-night stay at Windam Resort in Myrtle Beach, according to a flier distributed by the elder Serlick.
