A section of I-40 West at Exit 355 (N.C. 403) in Sampson County will be closed for about two weeks to perform emergency repairs where a truck hit the bridge span. Further repairs are expected later this summer.

Motorists traveling on I-40 West are being detoured onto the exit ramp and then continuing on to I-40 West.

N.C. 403 is closed to traffic at I-40 in both directions and traffic is being detoured. Northbound traffic from Clinton will take U.S. 701 Business to N.C. 24 East and then take I-40 West to N.C. 403 North. Southbound traffic will follow N.C. 403 to U.S. 117 South in Faison to N.C. 24 Business West in Warsaw and then continue on N.C. 24 West to U.S. 701 Business in Clinton.

North Carolina Dept. of Transportation (DOT) reminds motorists to stay alert and encourages motorists to use alternate routes when possible during this period, drive with caution, obey the posted speed limits and allow for extra travel time.
