The Original Free Will Baptist Church dinner program, providing financial support to Mount Olive College, had its most successful year yet, officials have announced.

Jean F. Ackiss, director of church support, said that more than 2,400 donors contributed to this year's program, donating an estimated $529,484, an increase of 4.28 percent over the previous year. Of those, 2,192 were designated as Bridge Builders, giving $100 or more.

The fundraising effort has been in existence for 44 years. Each fall, MOC hosts 18 county dinners in a four-month period, providing entertainment, meals and literature to promote the college.

"These dinners are a way for Mount Olive College to minister with the Free Will Baptist Church, our founding body. It is also an opportunity for our students to shine, and for us to provide an update on how we are transforming the lives of the students we serve," Mrs. Ackiss said.

"The dinner program has done more to develop and continue the relationship with the FWB Church than any other program at the college, and for that we are very thankful."
