WCC course offerings

Several new continuing education courses will be offered this spring at Wayne Community College:

*Airport operations -- duties and responsibilities of an airport worker -- runs 17 weeks starting Jan. 8, costs $60.

*Aviation instrument rating, designed to prepare students for the FAA instrument pilot aircraft written exam, begins Jan. 14 and runs for 17 weeks, costs $60. Flying experience required.

*Aviation ground school for pilots, features a study of aerospace history, weather, navigation, instruments, preflight planning, radio communications and procedures necessary to become a private pilot and preparation for the government-required exam. Starts Jan. 15 and runs for 17 weeks, costs $60.

*Aircraft Structural Training starts Jan. 8, runs 17 weeks, costs $65. Provides entry-level aircraft structures training and leads to airframe and powerplant certification.

*Plumbing Standard Inspection Levels I, II and III, the N.C. Code Qualification Board's standard inspection course, with credits toward the board certification program. Cost is $60, taught on two weekends beginning Jan. 12.

*Injections and compressed molding course, taught for seven weeks beginning Jan. 15, cost $55.

*Introduction to legal assistant, costs $60 and taught for 17 weeks starting Jan. 7.

*Food service sanitation and safety on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for 10 weeks starting Jan. 16, Cost is $60.

*Plant Pest Management prepares students for pesticide certification, taught on Thursday evenings for 16 weeks beginning Jan. 24. Cost is $60.
