MOUNT OLIVE -- Dr. Dan Gall, environmental science coordinator and associate professor of geology and archaeology at Mount Olive College, will give a presentation on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from noon until 1 p.m. in the Hennessee Room of the Lois K. Murphy Regional Center.

In his presentation on "Global Warming: Fact or Fiction," Gall will discuss the geological data about glaciation cycles and how that results in climate changes, the spread of deserts, and coastal flooding. He will distinguish between expected temperature/climate changes linked with glaciation versus a greenhouse gas induced (CO2) superinterglacial period that may be occurring as a result of burning fossil fuels, manufacturing of cement, etc.

He will also discuss the options for energy sources including biofuels, hydrogen, and renewable electricity and good stewardship of them.

Part of the faculty lectures given regularly at the college, the presentation is free and the public is invited to attend. Lunch is available in the cafeteria for $5.
