Revolutionary War espionage to be topic of October 16 lecture

"Espionage in the American Revolution" will be the topic of Conway J. Rose's program Oct. 16 at the Wayne County Public Library. It will be held in the Gertrude Weil Auditorium at 7 p.m.
Rose will discuss how espionage was a very important part of the war. Both the Americans and the British used networks of spies, double agents and traitors to gather information about the enemy.
Rose is a former Asheboro High School teacher and president of the Wayne County Historical Association.
He located the original Torhunta site of the Tuscarora Indians in northern Wayne County and the Nooheroko Indian village site in Snow Hill.
The event is being sponsored by the David Williams Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the library.
